One week ago today my husband Gayle and I were driving the Going to the Sun highway in Glacier National Park, which had opened just a few days before. We marveled at the indescribable beauty as we got higher and higher. This was our 4th time here, and yet it is the different lighting created by weather patterns that makes the mountains, waterfalls, and all as if you are Nancy Crawfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11922997227361498631noreply@blogger.com1Glacier National Park, 295 Mather Dr, West Glacier, Mt 59936, USA48.7596128 -113.787022548.424664299999996 -114.41873650000001 49.0945613 -113.1553085tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917284539682730157.post-25842402630701138052012-06-20T00:25:00.000-07:002012-06-20T06:30:02.797-07:00The Tulips of Arbor Crest I spent a delightful morning at Arbor Crest Wine Cellars in Spokane Valley a couple of months ago when their tulips finally bloomed again. I had waited in great anticipation for almost a year after Kathy, from Arbor Crest, told me about the annual tulip festival and the thousands of tulips they have! So I determined then that I would not miss it this year.

Traditionally, we spend Mother's Day weekend in Kennewick, WA and visit our daughter Lisa and her family. This year was bittersweet knowing they will be moving this summer, and I relished every minute. On Saturday, we traveled to Walla Walla where the annual Balloon Stampede was in progress. This was our first trip to this quaint city and only wish we had more time to spend here. Things will never be the same again. I had some valuable opportunities in April and May to get to know my new tools and I am blown away by the differences. I've heard it said that it doesn't really matter what camera you have, just invest in good lenses. That is good advice to some extent, but Nancy Crawfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11922997227361498631noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917284539682730157.post-31090760463879675312012-04-01T23:10:00.004-07:002012-04-01T23:24:44.759-07:00WorkshopsIn March I took the opportunity to attend two excellent workshops. Tony Roche from Spokane Valley Camera Club shared some "secrets" for raising your photography up a notch. Many of his photographs look like there is an HDR process applied, and he shared that he uses layers to capture that look and went into detail how he does it. Yesterday I attended a seminar presented by PSA (Inland Empire Nancy Crawfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11922997227361498631noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917284539682730157.post-17854051152555961442012-03-04T22:54:00.000-08:002012-03-04T22:54:03.825-08:00The Gaiser Conservatory in Manito ParkWhere can one see flowers blooming in January? At the Gaiser Conservatory in Manito Park, Spokane Washington! Gayle and I visited the conservatory on January 21, 2012 with a few members of Spokane Valley Camera Club. It was so refreshing to forget about the winter weather outside and come into the warm humid environment flowers love.

Wed. Jan. 3 was delivery day for my niece, even though she lives as far away as one can live from me in the US, I stay in touch through Facebook as she posts often. When I got home from work the first thing I did was Nancy Crawfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11922997227361498631noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917284539682730157.post-45341082561610443232012-01-04T00:12:00.000-08:002012-01-26T23:51:51.269-08:00The Last QuarterI'm not talking money here, but time. October through December was very busy. Some of those times I've talked about in previous posts.
October 1, 2011 - Eric, Cory, and Gayle head out for the Weber State vs Eastern Washington football game. It was nice to have Eric here for a week-end visit.
October 7-9 was our trip to the Colville National Forest, which is in a previous post.
October 15 - SVCC Nancy Crawfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11922997227361498631noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917284539682730157.post-43280919123154276282012-01-02T18:01:00.000-08:002012-01-23T13:33:12.993-08:00September 28-29 Musician PhotoshootThe end of September I was asked to take pictures of Spokane Symphony Orchestra musicians. These pictures will eventually be placed on the Spokane Symphony website in a section called "Meet The Musicians." Here are a few of them:

She agreed, and we had about 15 members who photographed on that hot summer-like day. I was very impressed with the landscaping, and variety of flowers in bloom when we visited in July, and hoped to still have some of Nancy Crawfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11922997227361498631noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917284539682730157.post-70538179713831251802011-12-21T23:42:00.000-08:002012-01-02T16:08:27.210-08:00October 2011 - A Trip to the Colville National ForestIn celebration of Gayle's birthday, we decided to go away for the week-end. Our first choice was Leavenworth, Washington, but didn't realize it was Octoberfest and we could not find lodging. Our second choice was Beaver Lodge Resort in the Colville National Forest. Never having been there, I had a picture in my mind of what it looked like based on the descriptions of a friend and Nancy Crawfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11922997227361498631noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917284539682730157.post-69363082510073487522011-12-21T06:49:00.000-08:002011-12-21T13:04:25.035-08:00September 2011 - The HarvestGardening takes a lot of time. We grew a variety of tomatoes, yellow crookneck squash, zucchini squash, buttercup squash, butternut squash, carrots, green beans, beets, green pepper, and cucumber. We had a very strange cold wet spring and early summer and we wondered if we would be able to grow anything this year! But everything did grow and we enjoyed a very bountiful harvest. I love their fragrance, color, and design. I gained a greater appreciation for the flowers that I grew and the display they give that gladdens the heart. Here are a few from my garden(s).

Time for them to get home and think about school starting. A few days later we visited Lisa, Dave, and the girls for the week-end as Dakota was going to be baptized as well as her cousin who is the same age.
Dakota was baptized by her father

We had planned to go to another place to shoot pictures after doing some on the trampoline and in the hammock. But darn the luck! I became aware of a car driving slowly toward us, through the field and didn't stop until he hit our fence and shed!!! Kevin went around to the back to see if the driver was alright. What a fun week-end to be there! Newell was going to the prom, and I think that Lisa was more excited than she was. It was fun to watch Lisa help Newell do her hair, nails, and all else that went into it. That gave me a little more time to spend with Corbyn, Paige, and Dakota at the park.

During the month I also became a CTA (Certified Tourim Ambassador) for Spokane, and enjoyed a visit from Lisa, Newell, Corbyn, Paige, and Dakota. We spent one very rainy afternoon in Riverfront Park.

Weddings are such grand affairs when family and friends come together to celebrate the marriage of a couple who have decided to spend the rest of their lives together. And this was no exception. It was wonderful to see my sisters Sherie and Kay, and of course my sister Mary, mother of the bride. But trying to get ready to leave was very stressful! There are so many details to take care of before I leave that it seems impossible to get it all done! For example: The work responsibilities - recent concerts have been settled with the promoters, a new event, Robert Kennedy on May 19 has been Nancy Crawfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11922997227361498631noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917284539682730157.post-24644183740832120142011-03-03T23:43:00.000-08:002011-03-03T23:59:57.500-08:00Gas Prices Hiking Up Again Gas went up again today, hitting $3.50 a gallon here in Spokane, WA. When I got home from work, I took my coat off and laid it on the couch instead of hanging it up right away. I was working in the kitchen, and Cory and Rueger, (Cory's pit bull) came downstairs.
